How Can We Help?

(F) Import Teacher Mgrs with CSV file

You are here:
< All Topics
The person who first sets up the account is the owner (probably you).

The owner is automatically the first teacher.  The owner will always be able to see ALL the students in the dashboard and can review everyone’s progress. Hint: If you want to see only the students connected to you as their teacher use the “Search” box and filter for your name–then only your students will be displayed.  It works the same on the dashboard and Review Progress page.

WARNING: You probably need to add your school and a code.

Teacher Mgrs before students: You must set up your Teacher Mgrs before you input the students, but you can add more Teacher Mgrs at any time this same way.

Go to Teacher Managers tab

As owner you can set up additional people as Teacher Mgrs to help manage the seats.  There are two options to add Teacher Mgrs to your account.

Option 1 is a popup for a handful of teachers: Directions for Option 1 are on a different page of this Knowledge Base.

Option 2: with a CSV import if you have more than a handful.

WARNING: Some of your teachers may already be in our systemIf a teacher is already signed up for the Rocket Math Online game (even the free trial) then their email is in our database, you will get the alert below User with this email already exists.  Check off that you wish to merge them into your account and take over paying for them.

Option 2: Import Teacher Mgrs with a CSV file. If you have more than 15 or 20 teachers to add, you’ll want to use the CSV file method.

On the Teacher Mgr page click on the blue button that says +Import teachers from CSV.  You’ll see this pop-up.

Task 1: Open our template and add data to it

Click on the bright blue button to open our required template. You MUST enter your data on our template, or it won’t import.  You cannot use a file you create–paste your data into our template, save as CSV and then import.

In the template file: you just enter each teacher manager’s first and last name, their email address and a password.  (We will send them an email that will tell them what it is!) You must add a School Code. Here are the directions if you haven’t created a three-character school code yet in your account.

Task 2: Save the file as file type CSV (comma delimited) to import.

After you fill out this information save the file, but use SAVE AS and choose CSV (Comma delimited) as the file format.  See what that looks like to the right.

(You don’t need to change the name of the file–just change the format from excel file to csv.  It will put a dot csv at the end of the file name.)

If you don’t choose SAVE AS and choose the file format of CSV (Comma delimited) then your file will NOT import.

Task 3: Import the file

After saving the file in the CSV format, you have three steps to import it.

Import step 1) In the pop-up for importing Teacher Mgrs click on Choose File at the top.  Go and find the file you just saved in the CSV format.

Import step 2) Click on the blue button at the bottom that says Parse CSV.

WARNING: If any of your teachers already have their own account they will have to be merged for the CSV to work.  You’ll get an alert similar to this (it will say Teacher Mgrs rather than School Managers). Check off ones you wish to merge into your account. If you don’t check them, they won’t import.

Import step 3) Wait for it!   Another pop-up will appear with the Teacher Mgrs info on it.  Go to the bottom and see another blue button which says “Import Managers”  Click on it to finish importing your teacher managers.

We send your Teacher Mgrs an email immediately.

As you create Teacher managers, we send the email below telling them: 1) Where to login, 2) Their username and the password you made up for them, and 3) Where to get help and information.  When they first login, they are required to make up their own password. I’d recommend letting them know it is coming, as they may ignore the email coming from us.

Next, you or your Teacher Managers will go on to Assign Student Login information to your “unassigned” seats so the students can login and play.
